Flesh
Flies for Sale!!!
Flesh
Flies are an imitation of Salmon flesh that is in
the water. Flesh can come from carcasses, that Salmon
fisherman have tossed in the water after catching
and cleaning them, or from Salmon that have spawned
and died. Just like with beads, flesh flies are tied
up in various shades and sizes.
Trout
understand that flesh, along with eggs from Spawning
Salmon, have the highest Biological Valued (BV) protein
that is available to them. That is why here in Alaska,
flesh and beads, ( I like to call them Steak and eggs
), will usually out-fish any lure or fly there is.
I
use rabbit fur to tie some of these flies, but to
get a more translucent and realistic product, I also
use glo-bug yarn and chenille. Blending these two
materials creates a meal that even the wariest of
trout find hard to pass up.
